Kinding Sindaw

 

Kinding Sindaw is a non for profit theater and dance theater established in 1992 and based in NYC that presents repertoire from living tradition and intangible cultural heritage of the southern Philippines through performances, dance, storytelling, kulintang music ensemble and silat martial art. These Repertoire are excerpts from legends, epics and myths orally transmitted through generations. The assertion of preservation and re-creation in diaspora is a call to protect this intangible cultural heritage from appropriation, commodification and extraction. We are Honoring the Indigenous and Sultanate Bangsamoro people in Mindanao, Philippines and those in diaspora, our programs services are culture and arts for wellness, mental health, youth, aging, education resource for communities all across USA through dance, music, storytelling, workshops, Filipino language and silat martial arts. Kinding Sindaw is non for profit, AAPI / BIPOC lead and membership. Founded by Artistic Director Potri Ranka Manis, a Meranao Bai Labi in diaspora in 1992.
