essence of hawaii

Essence of Hawaii is a production that showcases contemporary arts, fashion, music, and dance of Hawaii. Based on natural elements (fire, water, and earth), EOH brings to life the old legends and new transformations of a modern Hawaii. The production is a traveling collaboration that is ever-transforming, always bringing on board new creative additions to the show.

Essence of Hawaii was commissioned for Contempo, a fundraiser gala for The Contemporary Museum of Honolulu. A reception-style excerpt of the repertoire was showcased at Trump Waikiki Resort, Loading Zone Arts, and The Modern Hotel in Waikiki. The collaboration was later performed on tour in Shanghai, with a special glow in the dark body-painting twist to suit a crowd of Electronic Dance Music aficionados.

Essence of Hawaii, or EOH, takes our audience on a journey through the contemporary arts in Hawaii. Combining visual and performing arts, fashion, and live DJ, the repertoire piece can be presented as a reception or a staged production.

Co-presented by Dancers Unlimited and A Room of House. The EDM version of our Essence of Hawaii repertoire is created for the nightclubs and concert venues. The team traveled from Hawaii to present contemporary art, dance, music and nightlife from the islands in Shanghai.
