VY NGUYEN

Vy Nguyen is a movement artist, street and club style dancer, and freestyle community member. Rooted in Breaking, House, Hip Hop, as well as Contemporary floorwork and Capoeira, they have trained under renowned dancers Randi Frietas, Lauren Benjamin, Ishita Mili, and the Ladies of Hip Hop training program. Vy explores performance as a channel for queer emotion and expansive gender expression, and also to unearth their Vietnamese-American heritage, through creature-like movement. Vy is from the South Bay Area, California.

Vy’s first and latest solo work, Foreign Home, was created just before visiting the childhood home of their má in Vũng Tàu and performed at
the Lincoln Center Square Neighborhood Center. They are currently collaborating with interdisciplinary composer and pianist Derin Çağlar
on a performance for May 2026.
