RAVEN BRIGHT

I am a multidisciplinary Indigenous artist from Gallup, New Mexico, raised between reservation and border town life. This dual upbringing shaped the layered histories I carry as a mixed-blood Indigenous person, teaching me adaptability and community accountability.

My artistic journey began through Hip-Hop at FOF Dance Studio, where breaking became my first language. As a shy kid, Hip-Hop gave me confidence and connection. Training across Breakin, DJing, MCing, and Graffi grounded me in values of respect, discipline, and knowledge-sharing, shaping my collaborative, interdisciplinary approach.

I later joined Dancing Earth under Rulan Tangen, deepening my understanding of Indigenous-led creation and decolonizing movement practices rooted in story, protocol, and community engagement. I have toured internationally, sharing work grounded in my ancestry at the Osaka Expo in Japan, OSF in Ashland, and the NAC in Ottawa.

My work lives at the intersection of Hip-Hop and Indigenous knowledge systems that are both rooted in resistance, survival, and collective care. I center collaboration, reciprocity, and shared authorship, creating spaces where community and voice are honored through movement.
