BELLA WELLING
Bella is an NYC-based freelance artist and creative. Originally from Los Angeles, California, Bella grew up training in various dance styles, including contemporary, hip-hop/house, ballet/pointe, tap, and jazz at LA Dance Connection. Bella's Mexican background created a foundational love and understanding of dance as a site of joy and expression, which only grew while studying at LADC and continues to expand as they learn and practice different dance forms. They hold a BA in Dance and Public Health from Barnard College, where they trained in contemporary, post-modern, contact improvisation, Afro-Cuban, and hip-hop dance styles. Bella has had the privilege to perform works by and in collaboration with Jennifer Archibald, the Trisha Brown Dance Company, Wesley Ensminger, Jodi Melnick, MX Oops, Bo Park, and Dual Rivet.
Bella's passion for community health and wellbeing translates into their interest in how intersectional dance praxis can foster community and cross-cultural learning and celebration. They can't wait to continue this exploration while at DU!
